Mag3studio Roma (Magazzino 3) is an independent space focused on exploring the language of painting.

It is currently run by artists Marco Affaitati, Roberto Ciangola, Guido D’Angelo, and Antonella Nardi, who alternately present their own projects or those of selected guest artists.

On this occasion, Mag3 is hosting a solo exhibition by Polish artist Agata Stępień, who works between Poland, Italy, and Spain. The exhibition, titled “Tumulus”, evokes the image of ancient burial mounds, serving as a metaphor for existential weight—an unease that “keeps the artist from sleeping.”

The paintings are suspended from the ceiling, detached from the walls, and engage in dialogue with a tall mound of earth installed in the space, accompanied by a sound component created specifically for the exhibition by Chilean musician Sebastian Cifuentes.

For this exhibition, Mag3 also proposes a “curatorial twinning”.

The show is curated by Martyna Sobczyk – Museum of Contemporary Art in Kraków (MOCAK), and Asiia Gabdullina – Department of Art Curating at RUFA (Rome University of Fine Arts), with the supervision of Fabrizio Pizzuto.
The exhibition is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Poland, the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, the Polish Cultural Institute in Rome, and RUFA.
